Real Club Deportivo Mallorca

Friday, August 28th, 2009

The Spanish football league, La liga, starts this weekend with Real Mallorca, our local team playing Xerez. Yet again this season, Mallorca haven´t got any money to buy any players so are relying on free transfers. There has been a board takeover over the summer and the new boss doesn´t get on with the manager, so it looks like it will be a real up and down season. Again.

The West

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Famed for its beautiful breath taking scenery, the west coast of Mallorca is the perfect spot for those looking for a peaceful rest away from the hustle and bustle of the better-known tourist traps. One excursion which I always advise any holiday maker to do is the Great Island Tour. Getting aboard the old wooden train to Soller, you pass through great almond and olive plantations, aswell as the orange and lemon groves. The scenery is spectacular and this trip offers a completely unique experience.

The South

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Being situated in the South ourselves we have a lot of local knowledge and offer the best prices around on all our excursions. With too many to list a few of my favourites include the Western Water Park, Marineland, and of course the Pirates Adventure dinner show. We offer an excellent service to holiday makers and are always happy to help so if you do manage to get out to Mallorca this summer then feel free to pop in and see us!!

The East

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

The East coast is probably the quietest part of Mallorca and again it is a family orientated resort. Manacor, the largest town on the island, is in the East and gives you the opportunity to see how real pearls are made, and you even get the chance to buy them at a reduced rate! Being Mallorca´s most famous tourist attraction, the Caves of Drach are an absolute must and they are situated in the East. Visitors can take a guided tour of the caves and see the beautiful limestone formations, including stalagmites protuding from the rockface and stalactites hanging down from the roof of the cave. Tickets for both the Pearl and Cave excursions are available at reduced rates from the Travel Buddy!

The North

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

The North is home to beautiful beaches including Can Picafort to Alcudia at over 8km long, and wonderful mountain scenery – the ideal place for those of you who enjoy walking and cycling.  It is also well renowned for it fabulous bird spotting, and the infamous Black Vulture can often be seen up here! Excursions in this part of the island tend to be a lot more cultured such as the traditional Market in Alcudia and the fantastic Rancho Grande! Northern Mallorca is home to many family orientated bars and restaurants so this is the perfect location for a family holiday. Here at the Travel Buddy we have great rates on all types of accommodation, ranging from 5 star hotels to private villas to 2 star hostels so feel free to give us a call and see what we have to offer.

Things to do

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Well, it’s August and unlike last year, where it was practically impossible to get a hotel room in Magalluf at this time of year, the hotels seem to have plenty of availability and are giving us special rates and late deal offers to holiday makers. With it being so wet and cold in the UK, it is the ideal time to pack your bags and come and visit Mallorca!!

There´s so much to do on the island, not just in Magalluf but in Mallorca in general. Check out the next few blogs to find out more …

The weather

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

It would be impossible to write this blog and not mention the weather we have been having recently. Although it has cooled down slightly now, the past month has seen temperatures of 39 degrees, and the hottest day of the season so far! Without the air conditioning it would have been impossible to work in the heat! The holiday makers are loving it but those of us who are stuck in the office have spent our days wishing we were down at the beach soaking up the rays!

Magalluf Nightlife

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

After a slow start to the season the resort has definitely picked up over the last month and it is now getting a lot more lively!! In particular, the past few weeks have seen some big events been held at various nightclubs in Magalluf. Wednesday 8th July saw the world famous DJ Tiesto perform at BCM Nightclub, Lisa Maffia and Romeo have been performing on a regular basis at Boomerangs and of course the weekend of 18th July welcomed the infamous Clubland Weekender! As usual here at the Travel Buddy we were selling discount tickets to the events and all in all the feedback was fantastic!!
