The resort of Alcudia is situated in the north of Mallorca about 1hr 15mins drive from the airport. It’s a big resort and is split into 4 areas; the old town, the port, Belle Vue and Playa de Muro. It is situated between the resorts of Puerto Pollensa and Can Picafort and has lots going on. The golden sandy beach which is the resorts main attraction runs alongside Alcudia for 5 miles (8kms) which is why it is so popular with families.

 

Shopping: Alcudia doesn’t have a distinct shopping centre: souvenir shops line the beach road and the other small shopping areas dotted around the resort also cater for tourists selling buckets and spades, infatables and all beach accessories. The Port of Alcudia has a selection of good clothes shops. The supermarkets are good, stocking all the well-known brands along with cheap alcohol and cigarettes. In the Port you will find Little Britain which is a supermarket dedicated to selling British produce so for those on self catering it is certainly worth a visit.  The local market in Alcudia is on every Tuesday and Sunday morning.

Restaurants: Most restaurants in Alcudia cater for the British palate with plenty of them offering kid’s menus and families’ offers. There are also Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants as well as a Burger king and KFC. However, the best restaurants are in the port area, where you can find some very good Spanish, French and seafood restaurants situated in a lovely harbour setting with a pedestrian area idea for pushchairs and young children.

Nightlife: Alcudia has lots of bars, pubs and discos catering for most tastes. Many of the hotels offer in-house entertainment ranging from flamenco dancers to comedians. Many of the bars such as Cheers cater in particular for families with great children’s entertainment and facilities.

Activities: The activities in Alcudia are mainly focused along the spectacular five-mile (8km) beach. All sorts of water sports can be found from scuba diving to banana rides. There are tennis and squash courts in the resort and nearby attractions include a water park, a go-kart track and horse riding stables.
